Softball Recap: Tipton-Rosemark Academy Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

After losing to St. Benedict at Auburndale the last time they met, Tipton-Rosemark Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Rebels walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Eagles on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Rebels, who have now won four matches in a row.

Lanie Howe made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Sykes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Addie Thorpe was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Tipton-Rosemark Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Tipton-Rosemark Academy pushed their record up to 18-14-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for St. Benedict at Auburndale, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-5 record.
