Softball Game Preview: Hobgood Charter Raiders vs. Northwest Halifax Vikings

The Hobgood Charter Raiders will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Northwest Halifax Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Hobgood Charter beats Northwest Halifax with seven runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Hobgood Charter walked away with a 7-2 victory over North East Carolina Prep on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Husky: they've now won five in a row.

Haleigh Eason made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Eason was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Ella Brownfield was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Kinsey Peel was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, everything went Northwest Halifax's way against North Edgecombe on Thursday as Northwest Halifax made off with a 23-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.
