Basketball Game Preview: Anthony Wayne Generals vs. Whitmer Panthers

Anthony Wayne is 0-8 against Whitmer since March of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Generals will venture away from home to square off against the Panthers at 7:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Anthony Wayne rang in the new year with a 57-49 victory over Springfield. Given the Generals' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Blue Devils are ranked 453rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Whitmer won against Northview back in December of 2025 with 76 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Panthers put the hurt on Ross with a sharp 76-53 win. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Little Giants: they've now won seven in a row.

Anthony Wayne's record is now 6-4. As for Whitmer, their record now sits at 3-5.

Things could have been worse for Anthony Wayne, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 71-54 loss to Whitmer when the teams last played back in February of 2025. Can the Generals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
