Football Preview: Oceanside Pirates vs. El Camino Wildcats

Oceanside and El Camino are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Oceanside Pirates will welcome the El Camino Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Oceanside is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Escondido, posting a 49-12 victory on the road. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Cougars are ranked 413th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oceanside was dealt a bruising 49-8 defeat at the hands of El Camino in their previous meeting back in September of 2023. Thankfully for Oceanside, Carson Howard (who threw for 244 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes, and also punched in a rushing score) won't be suiting up this time.
