Softball Recap: Thomas Jefferson Takes a Loss

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Thomas Jefferson's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Baldwin Highlanders on Tuesday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Jaguars were not able to get on the board.

Aubrey Shaffer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

Thomas Jefferson dropped their record down to 2-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Baldwin, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Thomas Jefferson is set to challenge their familiar foe Albert Gallatin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Baldwin will square off against rival Peters Township at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
