Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Petersburg Catholic). They put the hurt on the St. Francis Red Raiders with a sharp 13-2 win on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Barons considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

The team relied heavily on Jared Samon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Alex Fabelo was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

With the victory, St. Petersburg Catholic broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-15. As for St. Francis, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4-1.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. St. Petersburg Catholic will be playing at home against Shorecrest Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Barons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for St. Francis, they are taking a road trip to face off against Aquinas Institute at 5:00 p.m. on the 21st.
