Basketball Recap: Sterling Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Nevaeh Robinson and Madison Morrow

Sterling easily dispatched Cesar E. Chavez last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Sterling Raiders fell just short of the Washington Eagles by a score of 38-36 on Saturday. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Madison Morrow and Nevaeh Robinson certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Morrow dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 boards, while Robinson posted 11 points along with five boards and four steals. Morrow is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Sterling's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Washington, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sterling will host Sharpstown at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Sterling's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Sharpstown has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Washington, they will welcome Northside at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
