Baseball Recap: Rolling Meadows Comes Up Short

Rolling Meadows managed to slip by Schaumburg the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mustangs lost 8-2 to the Saxons on Wednesday. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Jack Hoeper was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Rolling Meadows saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quinn Hextall, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Rolling Meadows' defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-5. As for Schaumburg, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Coincidentally, Rolling Meadows and Schaumburg will both be playing Barrington the next time they take the field. The Saxons will head out to face the Broncos at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, while the Mustangs will host them at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
