Baseball Recap: Pioneer Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

While Pioneer's win against McAllen wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Pioneer sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over McAllen on Tuesday. The Diamondbacks haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Ruben Lopez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. Pioneer is undefeated when Lopez posts three or more RBI, but 7-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Diego Dominguez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

Pioneer pushed their record up to 10-9 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 8.91 hits in those games compared to only 4.5 in the others. As for McAllen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11-3 record this season.

Pioneer will have a chance to go back-to-back against McAllen: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
