Isaiah Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Adams, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Even though they lost, Desert Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against San Jacinto Valley Academy, falling 18-9.
Brandon Morinaga made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Evan Ogilive was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Desert Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Desert Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
