Baseball Recap: Northfield Takes a Loss

Northfield had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 10-16 to make it four. They fell just short of the Wabash Apaches by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Apaches this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-8 back in April.

Northfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kam Pratt, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

As for Wabash, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

On Wabash's side, Cooper Long spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. Long has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

Northfield's road trip will continue as they head out to face Fremont at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Norsemen are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Wabash, they will take on West Noble in a tournament on Saturday. The Apaches' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
