Baseball Recap: Willard's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Willard can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Port Clinton Redskins 2-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Crimson Flashes also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Elijah Reed made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). He has become a key player for Willard: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 0-8 otherwise. Reed was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Reed wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grant Poston, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That double was Poston's first of the season.

Willard's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-9. As for Port Clinton, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
