It was a good run, but Lawrence County unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Salem Wildcats. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in September of 2023.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 15-25, 25-17, 25-23.
Despite the loss, Lawrence County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Adaya Ball had six digs, two aces, and one block. Ball is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played.
Lawrence County's defeat dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Salem, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Lawrence County has already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Poplarville on the 16th. As for Salem, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Taylorsville on the 16th.
