Softball Recap: Antigo Has No Trouble Against Rhinelander

Antigo owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Rhinelander Hodags as they made off with a 7-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Red Robins, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Bethany Lewis's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Jewel Wiex was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Ava West also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Antigo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rhinelander struck out 16 times.

The win made it two in a row for Antigo and bumps their season record up to 7-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Rhinelander, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Antigo will square off against Mosinee at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rhinelander, they will challenge Northland Pines at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hodags are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
