Baseball Recap: Paradise Honors Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Paradise Honors, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Goldwater Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Michael Nicolini Jr. made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Jack Moore and Boeden Forquer did most of the damage at the plate: Moore went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Forquer scored a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, Forquer posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Jaydan Herrera was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles.

Paradise Honors' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Goldwater, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Paradise Honors will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Shadow Mountain at 6:00 p.m. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Matadors have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. Goldwater will be paying especially close attention to Paradise Honors' game: after Paradise Honors faces off against Shadow Mountain, they'll take on Goldwater again at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
