Soccer Game Preview: Aspen vs. Vail Mountain

The Aspen Skiers will take on the Vail Mountain Rangers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Aspen's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Aspen fell victim to Delta and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Aspen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Delta are ranked 25th).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Vail Mountain made sure to put some goals up on the board against Roaring Fork on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Rams 4-3. Vail Mountain better thank their lucky stars for the performance of Solveig Moritz, as she scored every single goal for her team.

Vail Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 6-3-1. As for Aspen, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-1.

Aspen suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to Vail Mountain when the teams last played back in March of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Skiers were down 4-0.
