Softball Recap: Eastern View Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

Eastern View entered their tilt with James Monroe on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Yellow Jackets with a sharp 16-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Cyclones, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Cailin Rendell made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sara Hopper, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kierstyn Harris, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Eastern View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Eastern View's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for James Monroe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Coming up, Eastern View will head out on the road to take on Chancellor at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cyclones are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for James Monroe, they will host Caroline at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
