There's no place like home for the Clayton Comets, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They claimed a resounding 81-36 win over Corinth Holders at home. That 45 points margin sets a new team best for Clayton this season.
It was another big night for Andrew Grimes, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Justice Mitchell, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Corinth Holders' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaylon Holder, who scored 11 points, and Tyler Sandaire who scored nine points along with three steals.
Clayton's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Corinth Holders, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.
Clayton will head out on the road to face off against Cleveland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cleveland is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Corinth Holders, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Garner at 7:00 p.m. Garner presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Corinth Holders in North Carolina (Garner is ranked 78th, while Corinth Holders is ranked 566th).
