Softball Game Preview: New Bremen Cardinals vs. Ansonia Tigers

The New Bremen Cardinals will challenge the Ansonia Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. New Bremen is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

New Bremen fell victim to Marion Local and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flyers.

Meanwhile, Ansonia can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Mississinawa Valley. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Addie Geyer made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Geyer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Shyann McKenna was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Lillian Kaiser was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.

New Bremen's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Ansonia, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. New Bremen hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Ansonia struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
