Soccer Game Preview: Monterey vs. Smith County

The Monterey Wildcats will square off against the Smith County Owls at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Monterey barely beat Westmoreland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 8-1 victory on Thursday. Monterey might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Smith County kept a clean sheet against Jackson County on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Blue Devils. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Smith County.

Monterey now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Smith County, the victory got them back to even at 5-5-2.

Monterey beat Smith County by a goal in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, winning 2-1. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Owls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
