Basketball Game Preview: Monta Vista Matadors vs. Homestead Mustangs

The Monta Vista Matadors will face off against the Homestead Mustangs at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.

Monta Vista fought the good fight in their overtime match against Saratoga on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Falcons 53-49.

Meanwhile, Homestead had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 59-52 win over the Vikings.

Monta Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Homestead, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Monta Vista came up short against Homestead when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 63-54. Can Monta Vista avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
