Baseball Game Preview: Deep Run Wildcats vs. Hermitage Panthers

Deep Run is 9-1 against Hermitage since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Hermitage took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Deep Run, who comes in off a win.

Deep Run played in-conference for the first time on Friday and got just the result they were looking for. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Freeman. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Nate Goodin looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Deep Run is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Connor Slaski was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Hermitage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 4-1 to Varina.

Malachi Parris was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Hermitage's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Deep Run, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Deep Run got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Hermitage by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
