Basketball Game Preview: Garden Plain Owls vs. Medicine Lodge Indians

The Garden Plain Owls are taking a road trip to take on the Medicine Lodge Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Garden Plain will bounce into Friday's match after beating Trinity Academy, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Garden Plain enjoyed a cozy 49-35 victory over Trinity Academy on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Owls as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Medicine Lodge made easy work of Kingman on Tuesday and carried off a 56-33 victory. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Eagles are ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Medicine Lodge's record is now 5-2-1. As for Garden Plain, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5.

Garden Plain couldn't quite finish off Medicine Lodge in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 42-39. Can Garden Plain avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
