Preview: Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs vs. Cherokee Warriors
Kennesaw Mountain is 0-3 against Cherokee since September of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Cherokee Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Kennesaw Mountain and six for Cherokee.
Last Friday, Kennesaw Mountain came up short against Wheeler and fell 36-29. While losing is never fun, Kennesaw Mountain can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Wheeler is ranked 70th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Tyson Harmon, who rushed for 41 yards and two touchdowns. Melvin Emioma was in the mix as well, providing Kennesaw Mountain with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Cherokee suffered a rough 41-20 defeat at the hands of North Cobb on Friday.
Kennesaw Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Cherokee, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8.
Kennesaw Mountain ended up a good deal behind Cherokee in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, losing 30-14. Can Kennesaw Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
