Softball Recap: Oneonta Redskins vs. Etowah Blue Devils
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Oneonta had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Etowah Blue Devils. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Oneonta also won the last time the pair played on April 4th.
Ashtyn Sligh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Tennley Johnson was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
On Etowah's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Owen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Oneonta is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 16-22-1 record this season. As for Etowah, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-22.
