Baseball Recap: Cheyenne Mountain Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Cheyenne Mountain dropped their record down to 7-3-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 16-5 to the Lewis-Palmer Rangers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 on Tuesday.

Noah Reickert was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Jansen Roberts was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

As for Lewis-Palmer, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2. 16 seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On Lewis-Palmer's side, Alvin Jarrell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Jarrell has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run and seven RBI. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Charlie Lendt was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Garrett Hennis, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Cheyenne Mountain and Lewis-Palmer should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The Red-Tailed Hawks will take on Rampart at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (8 vs. 167). Meanwhile, Lewis-Palmer (ranked 17th) will meet Skyline (ranked 122nd) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
