Volleyball Recap: Mia Mitchell and Julia Coutcher Secure Win for Maumee

Maumee barely beat Genoa Area the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers put the hurt on the Comets with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won six in a row.

While Maumee won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-16, 25-22.

Leading Maumee to victory were Julia Coutcher and Mia Mitchell. Coutcher had 11 digs and seven assists, while Mitchell had five digs. Coutcher is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Despite the loss, Genoa Area still got an impressive performance from Charli Magnone, who had 12 digs and three assists.

Maumee's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Genoa Area, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Maumee will be playing at home against Napoleon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Genoa Area, they will head out to face off against Northwood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
