Basketball Game Preview: Apex Cougars vs. Middle Creek Mustangs + How To Watch

Apex and Middle Creek are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The Cougars will head out to challenge the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Middle Creek took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Apex, who comes in off a win.

Apex was handed a 29-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-44 victory over Cary. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Imps on their court since January 30, 2024.

Apex got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Elizabeth Austin out in front who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 18 boards. Those 18 points gave Austin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella DeGrow, who posted five points along with eight rebounds and seven blocks.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 63 points the game before, Middle Creek was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were outmatched by Seaforth and fell 67-24.

The victory got Apex back to even at 1-1. As for Middle Creek, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Apex came up short against Middle Creek when the teams last played back in February, falling 53-43. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
