Softball Recap: Caldwell Triumphs

While Caldwell put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Nutley. The Chiefs came out on top against the Maroon Raiders by a score of 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Chiefs also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Sophia Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Rodriguez wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anna Dee, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Caldwell's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-2-1. As for Nutley, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Caldwell will host Mount St. Dominic Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Nutley, they will welcome Bloomfield at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
