Basketball Recap: Princess Anne Comes Up Short

Princess Anne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Landstown Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Eagles are ranked 15th).

It was another big night for Zaevion Cleveland, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals for Landstown. The dominant performance also gave Cleveland a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Alonzo Martinez, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Princess Anne's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Landstown, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Princess Anne will face off against Deep Creek at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Landstown, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bayside at 7:00 p.m.
