Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Biggs

Biggs waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Weed Cougars. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Collin Beck made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Brady Smith was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing six bases while going 1-for-4. He has become a key player for Biggs: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brayden Martin, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Biggs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Biggs pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Weed, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Biggs will square off against Williams at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give Biggs their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Weed, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Weed Cougars challenge Redding Christian Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will also be their first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
