Volleyball Recap: Green River Pirates vs. Pinnacle Panthers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Monument Valley, Green River was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They had just enough and edged the Pinnacle Panthers out 3-2. The Pirates have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Green River wouldn't go down easily and took Pinnacle into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-5, 25-12, 21-25, 15-12.

Green River found their leader in underclassman Mattie Meadows, who had six digs, five aces, and a block. The dominant performance gave Meadows a new career-high in aces.

Green River was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 27 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Green River's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Pinnacle, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Green River and Dugway will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dugway will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Green River surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pinnacle, they will face off against Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
