Football Game Preview: McAlester Buffaloes vs. Bishop Kelley Comets + Official Tickets

The McAlester Buffaloes will venture away from home to face off against the Bishop Kelley Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Kelley took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on McAlester, who comes in off a win.

McAlester is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat East Central 55-6. The Buffaloes haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Jordan Clark continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 135 yards and two TDs on only nine carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. McAlester also got help from Brandon Smith, who showed off his sure hands for 96 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: McAlester was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 207 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for McAlester, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jaxon McKinney, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Bishop Kelley had to suffer through a 42-14 loss at the hands of Booker T. Washington. The Comets have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

McAlester picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Bishop Kelley, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-4.

McAlester was able to grind out a solid victory over Bishop Kelley when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 29-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buffaloes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
