Basketball Recap: Channel Islands Starts Season with Victory at Home

Channel Islands gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They claimed a resounding 71-38 win over the Del Sol Jaguars.

Zach Chaney was nothing short of spectacular: he posted 20 points and four steals. Those four steals gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashley Duya, who earned 14 points.

Despite the defeat, Del Sol saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Abel Arrizon went 6-for-13 on his way to 14 points.

Channel Islands has already played their next contest, a 48-40 loss against Santa Clara on the 18th. As for Del Sol, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-51 defeat against Hueneme on the 18th.
