Softball Game Preview: North Jackson Chiefs vs. Colbert County Indians

The North Jackson Chiefs will be taking part in a tournament against the Colbert County Indians at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Colbert County took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on North Jackson, who comes in off a win.

North Jackson's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Dale County. The win continues a trend for the Chiefs in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

Not much got past Millee Grider, who gave up just five hits to keep Dale County off the board.

At the plate, North Jackson's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Haley Eldridge, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave Eldridge a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Colbert County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of West End by a score of 10-9. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Indians, who until this game were averaging 2.71 runs allowed.

Hallie Holland was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. Creleigh Gargis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

North Jackson's win bumped their record up to 20-16-1. As for Colbert County, their loss dropped their record down to 37-8.
