Baseball Recap: Pomona Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Pomona ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 15-10 win over the Bassett Olympians. That's two games straight that the Red Devils have won by exactly five runs.

Adrian Lopez was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Pomona is 2-1 when Lopez posts three or more hits, but 3-8-1 otherwise.

Lopez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Pomona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for the Red Devils: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 8.8.

The victory made it two in a row for Pomona and bumps their season record up to 5-9-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Bassett, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
