High school football: Nearly 50 FBS-bound players fill IMG Academy, Duncanville rosters

J.J. McCarthy, J.C. Latham, Kendrick Blackshire, Savion Byrd headline star power as national game of the year takes center stage.

MaxPreps No. 1 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) and No. 6 Duncanville (Texas) are set to play in the biggest high school football game of the 2020 season on Saturday. Part of the game's intrigue is the Ascenders' first trip to Texas since 2015, but the contest also features plenty of star power as the two rosters feature 49 players with at least one FBS offer.

IMG Academy has 26 players rated three-star or higher, with four five-star players all headed to Power 5 schools. The Panthers counter with 12 three- or four-star players.

There are 11 players between the two schools not rated in 247sports composite rankings but who've landed at least one college offer.

IMG Academy is traveling to Texas for the first time since 2015 when Shea Patterson led the Ascenders to a 47-29 win over DeSoto. The preseason No. 1 team in the MaxPreps Top 25, the Ascenders haven't faltered in four games, outscoring the opposition 194-42.



Duncanville opened with a 41-3 win over South Oak Cliff (Dallas) last week. The Panthers have won 30 of their last 32 games with both losses coming against North Shore (Houston) in consecutive 6A Division 1 state championship games.
