Softball Game Preview: Cheverus Stags vs. Falmouth Navigators

Cheverus is a perfect 7-0 against Falmouth since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Stags will welcome the Navigators at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cheverus has 16 straight wins, Falmouth has 18 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Cheverus made easy work of Westbrook and carried off a 17-2 victory. Considering the Stags have won nine games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Hailey Lamontagne, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

Lamontagne wasn't the only one making solid contact: Cheverus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Falmouth lost 22-3 to Biddeford on Wednesday.

Cheverus pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Falmouth, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Cheverus took their win against Falmouth in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 18-0 score. Do the Stags have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Navigators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
