Softball Game Preview: Swansea Tigers vs. Silver Bluff Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Swansea will face off against Silver Bluff. Swansea will be playing in front of their home fans against Silver Bluff at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Swansea's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matchups, but Friday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Swansea came up short against Silver Bluff on Tuesday, falling 12-2.

For Silver Bluff's part, Ryley Bowman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Bowman has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabella Kent, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those RBI were her first of the season. Emma Widener was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Silver Bluff always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Swansea only posted an OBP of .312.

Silver Bluff is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. Swansea's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
