Baseball Recap: North Central Wins Going Away Against Stryker

North Central won the last time they faced Stryker and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Panthers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Gavin Shockley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over 6.1 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, North Central let Briggs Fiser and Alex St. John run wild. Fiser went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while St. John got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. North Central is undefeated when Fiser posts two or more runs, but 5-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Meyers, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

North Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.

North Central's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Stryker, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-14.

Coming up, North Central will host Ayersville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Stryker, they will venture away from home to face off against Gorham Fayette at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
