Nixon triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Mason Vela

Recap: Nixon Mustangs vs. Trinity Trojans
Even though the Trinity Trojans scored an imposing 60 points on Saturday, the Nixon Mustangs still came out on top. Nixon managed a 64-60 victory over Trinity. Given Nixon's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Trinity is ranked 955th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Mason Vela, who scored 31 points along with 3 steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Nixon's points. The team also got some help courtesy of William Palumbo, who scored 12 points.
Nixon's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Trinity, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Nixon is on the road again on Friday and play against Steele at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Trinity will be home for the holidays to greet Byron Nelson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
