Recap: Elite Eagles vs. Fortune Early College Panthers
After a string of four wins, the Elite Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fortune Early College. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elite in their matchups with Fortune Early College: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Elite saw an underclassman step up: Anthony Monts scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Jamaal Mills, who scored nine points.
Fortune Early College got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mekhi Tanner out in front who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Omarion Davis, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Elite's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-6. As for Fortune Early College, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season.
Elite will be playing at home against Leroy Greene Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Elite has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 518 points over their last eight matches. Fortune Early College does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
