Softball Game Preview: Mohawk Warriors vs. Bucyrus Redmen

For the second straight game, Mohawk will face off against Bucyrus. The Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Redmen at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mohawk has 12 straight victories, Bucyrus has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Mohawk made easy work of Bucyrus and carried off a 14-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Aubrey Gottfried was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Mohawk got a massive performance out of Katie Woodland, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Mallory Brickner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Mohawk was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

Mohawk pushed their record up to 10-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average this season. As for Bucyrus, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
