Football Game Preview: Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs vs. South Broward Bulldogs

The Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs will head out to face off against the South Broward Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cardinal Gibbons will be strutting in after a win while South Broward will be coming in after a defeat.

On Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Cardinal Gibbons beat Coconut Creek 11-6. The Chiefs haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

One reason for the win was Cardinal Gibbons' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Alexander Carry and Joseph Cammarata, who racked up all five sacks between them.

Meanwhile, while it was South Broward who put the first points on the board on Friday, it was Plantation who put up more. The Bulldogs came up short against the Colonels, falling 28-6. While the Bulldogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Colonels 6-0 in the first quarter.

Cardinal Gibbons now has a winning record of 2-1. As for South Broward, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Thursday's match might be decided on the ground. Cardinal Gibbons has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like South Broward struggles in that department as they've been averaging 155.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Cardinal Gibbons took their win against South Broward in their previous meeting back in August of 2024 by a conclusive 33-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chiefs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
