Preview: Morningside Monarchs vs. Leuzinger Olympians
After two games on the road, Morningside is heading back home. They will take on the Leuzinger Olympians at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Morningside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1349th, while Leuzinger is ranked 220th).
Last Friday, Morningside ended up a good deal behind Hawthorne and lost 58-43.
Meanwhile, Leuzinger put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Centennial, posting a 73-29 win at home. The win was familiar territory for Leuzinger who now have six in a row.
Leuzinger's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Malachi Knight, who scored 17 points, and Da?mari Taylor, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Darrian Henry, who scored ten points.
Morningside's loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Leuzinger, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
