Softball Recap: Madison Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clinton, Madison was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Morenci Bulldogs by a score of 6-1. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 10-8 loss the last time these two teams met.

Olivia Schmitz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Kalexiana Wrest was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Mya Solis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Madison's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Morenci, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-8.

Looking ahead, Madison will face off against Adrian at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday. Morenci will be paying especially close attention to the Trojans' game: after the Trojans face off against the Maples, they'll take on Morenci again at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
