Softball Recap: South Dade Buccaneers vs. Goleman Gators
South Dade had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 6-9 to make it four. They lost 16-5 to the Goleman Gators. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buccaneers of the 10-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2017.
Kayla Healy led a balanced group of hitters, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Janaya Lopez, who earned one run and three stolen bases.
As for Goleman, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.1 runs over those games.
On Goleman's side, they let Debbie Untoria and Britney Cintas run wild. Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. South Dade will head out to square off against Ferguson at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buccaneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Goleman, they will venture away from home to challenge St. Brendan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
