Softball Recap: Union Grove Christian Has No Trouble Against Scotland Christian Academy

Union Grove Christian won the last time they faced Scotland Christian Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Saints. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 11 runs or more this season.

Morgan Donovant was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two triples, and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Tapler, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Hege, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Union Grove Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.4.

Union Grove Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Scotland Christian Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8-1.

Coming up, Union Grove Christian will head out on the road to face off against Calvary Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Scotland Christian Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wilmington Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on the 29th.
