Basketball Recap: Trinity Bulldogs vs. Eastern Randolph Wildcats

Trinity was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat. They were beaten by the Eastern Randolph Wildcats 91-51. The contest was a close 35-34 at the break, but unfortunately for the Bulldogs it sure didn't stay that way.

Despite the loss, Trinity saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zy'Iveon Holmes posted 20 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nazir Staton, who had six points and six assists.

Eastern Randolph was led to victory by Timothy Brower and Julian Brooks. Brower went 12 of 27 to rack up 30 points along with six assists and six steals, while Brooks went 10 for 17 en route to 23 points and eight boards. The game was Brower's 14th in a row with at least 17 points. Cade McCallum was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Trinity's defeat dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Eastern Randolph, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.

Looking ahead, Trinity will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Randleman at 7:30 p.m. As for Eastern Randolph, they will head out on the road to challenge Providence Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
