Softball Recap: Dedham Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Dedham had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They blew past the Bellingham Blackhawks 8-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-2 two weeks ago.

Julia Walsh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dedham got a big performance out of Alaina Martin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Joslyn Roberts, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Martin wasn't the only one making solid contact: Dedham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive matches.

Dedham's record is now 6-3-1. As for Bellingham, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Dedham will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Norton at 4:30 p.m. on the 28th. As for Bellingham, they will venture away from home to square off against Blackstone-Millville at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
